Designed to navigate from the Arctic to the tropics, the Scenic Ikon represents the new generation of Discovery yachts from the Scenic Group, known worldwide for its excellence in design, engineering, and hospitality. Scheduled for launch in April 2028, the ship marks a new chapter in the brand's history and consolidates its presence among the most innovative cruise companies on the planet.
Measuring 205 meters in length and 24 meters in width, the Scenic Ikon will house 135 suites, all with balconies and open sea views. On board, up to 270 guests will be welcomed with the comfort and privacy that characterize the group. The vessel was built to meet the highest international standards, with a Polar Code 6 rating and an Ice Class 1A Super hull, guaranteeing safe performance both in the icy waters of Antarctica and under the intense sun of the Mediterranean.
The onboard experience reflects attention to detail. There are 15 restaurant and lounge options, wellness areas with a gym and yoga studios, and a two-story spa with 1,700 m² dedicated to serenity. The contemporary design prioritizes natural light and silence, the result of a hybrid propulsion system and advanced stabilization that reduces noise and environmental impact.
The Scenic Ikon takes exploration to another level. Equipped with two Airbus H130-T2 helicopters, a custom Triton AVA submersible, Fassmer and Zodiac auxiliary vessels, the yacht offers exclusive access to remote destinations, allowing for glacier flyovers, dives in crystal-clear waters, and expeditions guided by marine life and geology experts.
According to Douglas Vojivoda, a specialist in travel and personalized experiences, the Scenic Ikon represents "the synthesis of the new era of navigation, in which technology, comfort, and discovery coexist harmoniously. It is a vessel made for those who seek to go beyond the destination."
Its inaugural voyage departs from Venice in April 2028, with reservations already sold out. The itinerary extends until March 2029, crossing 110 ports in 21 countries and introducing 26 new destinations to the Scenic fleet. The route includes stops in the Mediterranean, Egypt, Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, Falkland Islands and Chilean fjords.
More than just a vessel, the Scenic Ikon is a manifesto for the future of sailing. The ship was conceived and built by the group's own naval division, MKM Yachts, and will be fully operated by the Scenic team. Every technical component was designed to optimize energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and preserve the marine environment.
“Every element of the Scenic Ikon reflects our passion for innovation and the desire to provide transformative experiences on every sea on the planet,” says Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of the Scenic Group.
With nearly four decades of tradition in maritime and river expeditions, the Scenic Group reaffirms its commitment to creating unique journeys where engineering meets the art of fine travel. The Scenic Ikon is, literally, the new horizon of discovery.
